Sentence
Sentence क्या होता है? यह कितने प्रकार का होता है।
The Sentence
Sentence उन सभी शब्दों का समूह है जिनसे एक पूर्ण कथन बनता है, Sentence को दो भागों में बांटा जा सकता है -
1. Subject
2. Predicate
Subject
Subject, Sentence का वह भाग होता जिसके बारे में ही उस Sentence में कहा जाता है। Sentence में Subject, Interrogative और Exclamatory Sentences को छोड़कर अन्य Sentences में सबसे पहले आता है; जैसे -
- Ram plays Cricket.
- Children of this society play football.
Predicate
Predicate, Sentence का वह भाग होता है जिसमें कम से कम एक Finite Verb अवश्य होना चाहिए। Predicate, Sentence में Subject और Verb के बारे में बताने का कार्य करता है।
Example-A. Children Swim.

C. I am their teacher

D. I give them history lessons.

Types Of Sentences- वाक्य के प्रकार
Sentence निम्नलिखित चार प्रकार के होते हैं -
1. Simple Sentences (साधारण वाक्य ) :- ये दो प्रकार के होते हैं।
- Affirmative Example - Ram is an honest man.
- Negative Example - Ram is not an honest man.
2. Interrogative Sentences ( प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य):- ये तीन प्रकार के हो सकते हैं।
- Wh-Questions:- Example- What is your name?
- Yes/No Questions:- Example- Is your name Tina?
- Question Tags:- Example- Your name is Raghav, isn't it?
3. Imperative Sentences (आज्ञासूचक वाक्य):-ये तीन प्रकार के होते हैं।
- Command/ Instruct:- Example- Do this Work, Close the door etc.
- Request:- Example- Give me some money,please.
- Advice:- Example- You should take care of your old Parents.
4. Exclamatory Sentences ( विश्मयबोधक वाक्य):-ये चार प्रकार के होते हैं।
- Anger:- Example- Hush!say no more.
- Shock:- Example- Alas! I lost everything.
- Surprise:- Example- Oh my god! I can't believe my eyes.
- Admiration:- Example- Wow! What a beautiful place.
Simple, Compound and Complex Sentences
Simple Sentences:- ऐसे वाक्य जो केवल एक Subject और एक Finite Verb से बनते हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में 'ऐसे Sentences जो केवल एक Independent clause से बनते हैं तथा इसी से इनका अर्थ पूर्ण हो जाता है,Simple Sentences कहलाते हैं।
Examples - Meera loves animals
Subject ↳ Finite Verb
Ram likes Ice-cream
Compound Sentences:- ऐसे वाक्य जो दो Independent clauses को Conjunction के द्वारा जोड़कर बनते हैं, Compound Sentences कहलाते हैं।
Examples - The question is tricky but I can answer it.
Independent Coordinating Independent

Rohan did not study for the test, yet he scored quite well.
We were stuck in traffic so we reached an hour late.
I can take you to the park or I can take you to the museum.
Examples - Meera loves animals

Compound Sentences:- ऐसे वाक्य जो दो Independent clauses को Conjunction के द्वारा जोड़कर बनते हैं, Compound Sentences कहलाते हैं।
Examples - The question is tricky but I can answer it.
Independent Coordinating Independent

Rohan did not study for the test, yet he scored quite well.
We were stuck in traffic so we reached an hour late.
I can take you to the park or I can take you to the museum.
Coordinate clause निम्नलिखित conjunction की सहायता से जोड़े जा सकता है-
And, But, However , Nevertheless , Only, Still, Whereas, Yet, Or, Otherwise, For, So, Therefore, And so on
Complex Sentences:- ऐसे वाक्य जो Independent clause के साथ Dependent / Subordinate clause को जोड़कर Sentences बनाए जाते हैं तो इन Sentences को Complex Sentences कहते हैं।
Examples:- I know the man who came to meet you yesterday.

And, But, However , Nevertheless , Only, Still, Whereas, Yet, Or, Otherwise, For, So, Therefore, And so on
Complex Sentences:- ऐसे वाक्य जो Independent clause के साथ Dependent / Subordinate clause को जोड़कर Sentences बनाए जाते हैं तो इन Sentences को Complex Sentences कहते हैं।
Examples:- I know the man who came to meet you yesterday.

The book that you gave me had wonderful stories.
Gunjan left the party early as she was in a hurry.
Before I left for Goa, I finished all my work.
Note:- Complex Sentences में Subordinate clause, main clause से निम्नलिखित Conjunction की सहायता से जोड़ी जाती हैं-
Because, After, Before, While, Since, That, Us, Unless, Though, Although,And so on.
इनसे सम्बंधित Pronouns जैसे What, Who, Which etc.
